Should I try to repair my shorts?

Tore a hole in my new shorts on Sunday, I was looking a them last night, thinking they might be sewn up. I don’t want to buy new ones because I’m joining a club and they have a team kit, however these match the top. I do have other (DeSoto) tri shorts I can wear.

Will this look stupid if I get them repaired?

how new are they? What brand? DeSoto?

reading the threads on nude triathlon, I considered it, but Steve Bradley and TriPA have siad that letting my ass hang out wouldn’t be a good idea!

BTW, I can’t thank you enough for the feet shaving suggestion, it makes it much less painful to remove bandages.

ah, I’m not familiar with this company, but having worked in the business, I know some of the smaller companies may have helped you out, maybe a small discount due to your little mishap!

Furry feet are never good, so I’m glad I could help!

i ripped a pair of my favorite shorts in a stupid bonk-crash … i bought some nylon upholstery thread (heaviest-duty thread available), and sewed up the hole with tight stitches. worked great and is pretty much invisible - total cost about $4.

Don’t know how the sewing thing would work, but I got one of those thin black iron on patches and ironed it from the inside. worked like a charm as my shorts have been through this whole season thus far and no problems. The hole was about 1 1/2" long and caused by a crash (so it was a ragged hole).

patch? you mean from a sewing supply store? is it a nylon/lycra blend? I’m thinking this would work, as long as it moved with the fabric.

Yup, those really thin iron on ones without any embroidery or other seams; the one I got wasn’t even a lycra blend one and came in a pack with a bunch of different colors. I was initially worried that it wouldn’t streach with the rest of the fabric, but I guess the fabric around it makes up for the small un-streachy patch because I don’t even notice. Just make sure your shorts aren’t streached out when you iron it on or I could see it ending up with some wierd wrinkles.
