Should I just bail on the race?

Like an idiot I thought it was Sunday and now find out its Saturday … Man, it sure would make things easier. I could visit my friend in Seattle as promised … And have more time to visit my friends in Portland … It’s a “B” race and the $60 is gone, can’t get that back … I have already done the race twice so its nothing huge or special I am looking forward to. I am signed up for more races in late July and early August. Better make sure those are on Sunday as well!!!

This will sound like I’m hacking on you, but I’m not. You clearly don’t have a racing attitude for this thing, so why bother, really?

You are right … I do like 6-7 triathlon races a year. Only 2 or 3 “count” for me. There are many more opportunities in August and even September. I think I was not paying attention because I have done this race before and thought “it might be fun” to do it again. Plus I would be pissed to not PR on that course but I feel like I might not because I feel a bit over-trained.

Overtrained and wrong attitude are the two main ingredients for injury. Cut back, rest a bit, clear your mind, and you’ll be chompin to race in 3 weeks. Much better outcome then anything I could imagine from this race.

do what you want to do…no obligation–it’s your life. live it!!

Just back from a 25 mile spin to clear my head. I am definitely bailing. First time I have ever done this: Signed up then bailed … Its probably the least important of the 6-7 races I planned to do this season. That and I have some heavy duty training planned for next week. My ‘A’ race is August 7 (i think;-) I’ll be sure to check again. So I’ll rest and party this weekend instead.

heck, one season i trained for months to do the chicago marathon. was ready to go too, had my mileage in and everything. in the end, just didn’t feel like running the race, so i didn’t. no regrets. have a good weekend, and most importantly–take photos and report back!!
