Well, I will be bailing on Kona. After a Bone scan, CT scan, and an MRI it turns out that I have clear stress fracture of my sacrum.
The doctor I saw did turn out to be quite dicey, and a bit keen to do ‘procedures’ before all the facts were on the table, as some people alluded to. In the end I took my scans, saw someone else, talked to my sister (another doctor), my physio, and my coach and pretty much heard the same advice from everyone, after the facts were made clear.
So, it’s 6-10 weeks off (more likely to be 10).
On a brighter note, a bike company has contacted me and wants to start giving me stuff. While it’s not the complany i’m really after (hello Herbert? I’d like a blade and a vortex thanks), they make great bikes. Good enough to win the tour 7 times in a row anyway. I also now have time to write the great Aussie novel. I was thinking about this kid, who gets a funky scar on his forehead beacuse some wizard guy. Hang on, this is writing itself…

I hate to try to profit over someone elses misfortune, but I don’t suppose you have accomodation in Kona for that week that you won’t be using? I am scrambling to find something, with no luck. So I guess I have hit rock bottom…I feel like an ambulance chaising lawyer
