Full on Disclaimer: I know the owner and employees of the shop mentioned below and, though I have no pecuniary interest in the business, I would prefer to see them do well because I like them – an intangible, though very real, interest.
Someone posted recently asking about shops in the SF area. I thought this person, and others, might be interested in knowing that my local shop – Davis Wheelworks – will be the only shop at the Barclays SF Grand Prix expo this weekend and will have some pretty sweet rides available. Apparently, last year they sold a number of bikes when they were down there, so you can likely buy what you see.
However, when I spoke to the owner and some of the guys last night, it was clear that the bikes they are bringing down will not be for the faint of pocket-book: a couple of P3 Cs, one built up with the carbon-bearing’d Zipp wheels; some nice Pinnarellos; a wicked Ridley carbon cross bike with carbon wheels; and, perhaps even a carbon Soloist (not even sure if this one will be the shop’s or just on loan from Cervelo). There may be some lower ticket items (some Cervelo R2.5s) as well.
Even if not buying one of those rides, the expo will be a great place to talk to guys from the shop and decide if you want to make the drive up to Davis to patronize the shop. So if you are in SF to watch the racing, you might want to swing by the expo.
