So I’m recovering from Plantar Fasciitis. Getting better and may return to running in a week or so. I do have IMTX coming up. I usually run in a Saucony 8mm drop shoe. Just thinking that when I return should I go to a more cushiony type shoe (at least temporarily to transition back). Options would/could be to go to: 1. Hoka shoe -or- 2. Put a get cushion in my current shoe…
Thoughts if any one has had experience with this issue…
(BTW I don’t need treatment advice…just the shoe wear question…thanks.)
What helped me was taking the insoles out of my Saucony’s and putting in a set of blue Superfeet insoles…the Superfeet supported my arches better than the regular insoles.
Hoka One One
.
What helped me with plantar issues and recurring calf strain problems was medial support shoes i.e. GT 2000 trail and road shoes from Asics.
As you may know you won’t be able to come back at the same pace as when you got injured. One of the biggest problems runners have in coming back from injury. My advice is stick with Saucony and the 8mm offset. For the first 4-5 weeks go a step up in cushion if you can.So if you are in the Saucony Ride, go to the Triumph. If you are in the Guide go to the Hurricane. If you are already at the top end, then try the SuperFeet to support your foot for awhile. I don’t suggest Hoka simply because of the big change in offset. The difference between 8mm and 4mm is huge and there is adjustment you need to make. You can’t afford adjustment at this time.
I wish you well in your quest to pain free running. You have plenty of time to get run ready for Texas. Don’t rush it.
I’m in the Guide now. Will go to local shop and look at Hurricane.
