Shoe-type question

I have been having some issues with nagging injuries for some time now and just recently visited a PT. We have been working together with my local specialty running store and how come to the conclusion that I have been running in shoes that were “too controlling”, not allowing for proper heel-to-toe transition. I have high arches and from the rear I pronate slightly, but I remain neutral through toe-off. They put me in a “neutral” shoe and it felt wonderful on my run. What a difference. My question is, I’m 6’5", 190 lbs., I’ve run in “stability” shoes for the past 6 years (Asics Kayano, 21XX’s & DS Trainer’s) would you suggest that because of my size I should stay with the DS Trainers or look for something without posting? They put me in a Cumulus and I’m thinking of upgrading to the Nimbus, but I’m wondering what to do for my race shoes. That is my dilemma.

You should be asking your specialty shoe store that question - but, what’s wrong with racing in the DS trainers? How about trying some DS racers then?

I’m in the process of that. Just haven’t heard back yet. I’m going to continually work with them, just wanted to see what others thought who might have experienced the same thing.

Just got off the phone with the running store. There recommendation is to stick with the DS Trainer since the posting is not as pronounced as a “stability” trainer shoe, such as the 21XX’s & Kayano’s. Another reason they say is that as you go to lighter shoes (lightweight & racing shoes) that the posting gives guys that are my size some added support without affecting proper (natural) heel-to-toe transition.
