Shoe Question: High arches

Ok, I went to see a doctor about ankle pain. Diagnosis was peroneal tendonitis and also high arches. PT for the tendonitis and recommended ortho inserts for my shoes. One pair, pink foam molded to my foot then ground to fit my shoe. Supposedly interchangeable between shoes. Have not tried that yet but assume they are correct.

Anyway, here is my question. Is it possible for me to go to a high end running shoe store and possibly find shoes which will be beneficial to high arches such that I will not have to keep switching from shoe to shoe? I often run either at work or at home, depending on various things, but there is a 34 mile separation should I forget them at the other place. At $200 a pair, I can’t just have a lot of these made.

So, am I stuck with ortho inserts or are there good running shoes available for people with this condition?

Thanks for any input.

Ryan

Ryan,

Mizunos tend to have a high prominent arch. My guess is that you need a cushioning shoe. Unless your arch collapses when you put weight on your foot. If it collapses look at their stability or motion control shoes. Hope this helps.

The advantage of the orthotics is that they would be custom made just for your feet so likely would do what they are designed for. However, they would be more expensive than a generic solution.
