Shipping wheels

I have a set of Hed 3’s in Rochester, NY. I need to get them to my house in Atlanta. I have the option of waiting until my parents drive down in November to see my kids to bring them. I’d like to use them in a few races before that.

What’s the safest way to ship them and what carrier do you recommend? Do you think a cardboard wheel box from a shop will be safe enough for them? Any tips or advice? I was going to either use UPS, Fedex or DHL.

Anyone in Rochester with a wheel case I could use?

Thanks

Get one of the leftover cardboard wheel boxes from the LBS…that’s what they are made for.

Purely anecdotal advice: I’ve historically had much better handling with FedEx than UPS. Don’t go USPS for fragile items. Ever. I’ve had a few items bashed by UPS. But FexEx, while expensive, has always done a top notch job of delivering fragile items. Just be sure to insure your package no matter who you go with.

Express Mail should be the safest and economical way to ship them.

FedEx Ground… I can’t count how many bikes and wheels I’ve shipped this way to races with not a single problem and by far the least expensive method.

if $$$ is no problem, get one of those clam-shell hard wheel cases and ship them.

I shipped a bicycle for a gift for my Mom in my bike case a couple months ago. We decided to put the wheels in that and ship them down. Thanks for everyone’s suggestions. I will be on the look out for a wheel case though. I hope to do Roth next year.
