Shipping Tri Bike

I will be doing Cancun 70.3 and Ironman Australia this year. I am trying to understand the most economical and reliable way of shipping my bike; I have the case. Please let me know if you have any suggestions and/or experiences (good or bad) with shipping through an airline, DHL etc. What do you think is the best way for me to get my bike to Cancun and Australia?

Thanks!!

You can use UPS Fedex etc but for international travel I never ship always take on the plane - Australia is usually free not sure about Cancun.

Recent experience:
I flew from Syracuse (NY) to Melbourne and my bike (in Tri-All 3 sports case) cost me $110 on United.
Going from Melbourne to Amsterdam was a complete nightmare. Cathay Pacific apparently do not have a special allowance for bikes and wanted to charge me $67 per Kg for a whopping $1300. I ended up shipping it with some company for a total of $450 and it arrived 2 weeks later. Go figure. I am still fuming.

Apparently flying out of the US is easier since they charge you a set fee but from Australia/Europe they have a tendency to charge you based on weight (ie per Kg)

Flying with a bike is a complete gamble. You never know how you will fare.

Since Speedy is MIA I will say it. Bike Bag no damage no cost no hassel.
