Shin spint compression bandaid?

I have been experiences ss in my left leg only. Gave it a rest, am icing immediately afterwards and am walking any REAL hills. It is definitely better, but I need to TRY to start increasing my milage back up. Has anyone used these compression bandages? First I am wondering if it is worth the $20 and will I continue to make progress so that it will become a thing of the past over the next few weeks?

Thanx,

Brian

i can’t vouch for all of the sleeves, but the cho-pat shin compression strap works great. kept me running through the end of the season even with severe shin splints and possibly a stress fracture. It’s not reccomended to keep running but if you really must, then try the cho-pat. www.cho-pat.com or in the back of any running/tri magazine. Most other brands are just a neoprene sleeve that applies a little compression and warmth. The chopat has extra reinforcement straps at the top and bottom, much more protection.

I often get shin splints in my left leg only as well. I am sure it is because I had knee surgury on the right and still favor it. I found a compression wrap at Walmart for $5 that works great. It has a loop in it that you put your foot through and then move it up to your calf, then you wrap the rest of it around the lower leg and it has velcro at the end for it to attach. I like this better than just the sleeves because they can loose their elasticity over time. This one does also, but you can just wrap it tighter as it loses tension. One thing to remember about wraps, try to ice massage as soon as you can once you remove the wrap.

Good luck.
