Shimano Tri shoe

Anyone using the Shimano Tri shoes? I’m interested in getting a new pair this upcoming season and am wondering if anyone uses these. Local bike shop brings these in, so they are on my list. along with carnacs.

Aloha.

i have sidi t1s, i love them
.

Got a new pair of the Shimano TRS-01 Tri Shoes about 6 weeks ago to replace a 5 year old pair of Carnacs. I love the Shimanos, they are about the most comfortable shoe I have worn and have a very stiff carbon sole. If they fit your feet, I’d highly recommend them.

I’m a Sidi T-1 man myself and we sell a ton of them. But we did buy both the new Pearl Izumi tri shoe and the Shimano tri shoe for '03.

I’ve got wide feet, thats why i love the Carnacs. Are the Shimanos similar in width to the carnacs?

I have a wide forefoot and just got the Shimano tri-shoes for Christmas to replace my Carnacs (friggin puppy ate the tongue off them!!!). Since I live in the Great White North, I haven’t ridden them yet but they feel very comfortable (even better than the Carnacs) so I can’t wait.

Don’t ask me why but I fancied bumping up this old 2002 posting because I’m thinking of going to the latest model of these shoes and want to know what people think now.

Any thoughts of the Shimano tri shoes ? (I currently use Sidi T1’s but want a stiffer higher performance shoe)

I was previously using the TR-01s and just got my TR-02s last night. I haven’t ridden in them yet but they feel reaaaaaallllly nice. Toe box is a little bigger but besides that, nice, light, strong and good-lookin.

Sidi T1’s have a model with Carbon soles…

The new Shimano tri shoe is our best selling shoe - carbon sole, roomy toe box and “correct” strapping make it a winner at $150. The Sidi is nice as well. The new Carnac 08 is a big improvement since they got the strap right now but the carbon soled 09 is still road style (outside in strap) which is a shame.

FWIW - shoes are a point of contact and it can take a bit of time to find the one that works for you but don’t hesitate to spend money on these ‘points’ when you find one that fits.

I find the sidis a little flexible in the upper and already use the top of the line shimano for TTing but curious as to how good their tri shoe is…

I’ve been in my T1s for about 2 years now and absolutely love them. Great fit, light, stiff. Best tri shoe I’ve owned. I’ve had Sidi and Carnacs before.

I love mine, now that I’ve made a few modifications:

  1. The toe box was TOO roomy for me, so I and a Spenco sole insert even cutting out the little drainage hole in the middle. They feel dreamy now!

  2. My strap was too long and flapping on the crank arms. Take a straight razor and the strap length can be shortened easily if desired. The strap end is segmented specifically to allow for this.

The shimano’s are definitely wide. I went from Carnac Legends to the Shimano tri shoe. They’re not quite as wide as the Legends, but close.

Yes, TR01s are great, I have been riding and racing in them since 2003, love them. However the newer model no longer support SPD style cleats which limits your peddle choices. This is a problem for me has I use crankbro peddles on ALL OF MY BIKES. TT, road and Mtn.

I’m searching for a pair of leftovers size 44 let me know if ya find any on sale.
