Shimano chain with Campy chainrings?

Rock on… another compatibility thread

Wanted to search the collective intelligence we have here… I’m getting an ergomo rolling, and am going to be using a Campy Record crankset with a Shimano drivetrain (BB is square taper, can’t locate a 175mm DA/Ultegra sq tpr crankset). Taking a look at the chain widths as well as this nifty compatibility checker tool (http://www.wheelworks.co.nz/drivetrain.php), it appears that it’ll work.

My question is this… the aforementioned nifty compatibility checker tool tells me that the inside width of the shimano chain may be too narrow for a Campy 10sp chainring. Is anyone here running this setup? If so, how does it work? Seems to me it’ll work fine (and I’m not far off from finding out firsthand), but wanted to ask the group. I’m sure others running an Ergomo may be doing the same.

Thanks, as always.

I’m running this setup, and it works great. The campy chain rings may actually shift better than the Shimano D-A. I wore out my Shimano chain, and installed a SRAM chain, with a SRAM cassette, D-A rear derailleur, Ultegra front derailleur, and Campy Record Crankset, and it couldn’t work better. Super crisp shifting, I never drop the chain, and I don’t have that problem where the chain kinda gets stuck halfway between the two chain rings when I’m shifting into the little ring, which happened with both my FSA cranks and Shimano D-A cranks.

Rock on. Appreciate the info - thank you!

Any other experiences out there?
