Hey guys. I starting the transition to becoming self reliant as far as bike mechanics go and have a quick question regarding cassette change. All of my cassettes are Shimano and I was wondering about the first spacer. I just got a new set of Zipp 808s and they did not come with any spacers, so does the first spacer swap with the cassettte or is it wheel specific? Thanks.
The small-thin spacer stays with the cassette (for shimano)

Each new cassette will come complete and ready to install. The first spacer I think you are refering to is to make up for the difference when using a 10 speed cassette on a 9 speed hub. 10 speed hub bodies are slightly shorter and do not use that first thin spacer. You will need it for the 9 speed hub or the cassette will rattle even after torquing the lock ring.
