Wanted to see if anyone has any experience using a handlebar shim to use a 31.8MM stem on a 26.0MM handlebar. Good/ Bad, things to watch out for.
Some what similar but my PD aero bars are for 31.8 w/ a 26.0 shim. They work fine and don’t move. I don’t see why a stem would be much different.
The shims are fine as long as they are installed correctly, they are the appropriate size and they fit together on both surfaces well. Do a nice job installing them and make sure they are centered in the stem clamp. For extra credit points a very light application of FSA or other brand gritty anti-seize will give you a tighter clamp with less force and reduce scratching and corrosion.
