I just purchased a Pinarello FT1 with Shimano Dura Ace shifters and Deraileurs. From day one it took me at least 6 tries to get the front lower sprocket to shift up into larger sprocket. After taking it into the bike shop where I’ve purchased it 8 times now to make various adjustments (the 7th time they replaced the deraileur all together w/same Shimano Dura Ace) it still does not work! What else should they try or should I take it somewhere else?
Off the top of my head things I would check.
1.) STI shifter is working properly
2.) FD is working properly by hand (you can move it with just your hands)
3.) Wiring is correct (don’t know if the Pin’s have internal wiring or not, but if they do, it is correctly routed)
4.) There is sufficient tension on the FD
5.) The FD limit screws are adjusted properly
6.) You are using the shifter correctly
check height of FD on seat tube and angle of derailier relative to chain rings.
I thought i was the only one with this problem. I just upgraded to DA 7900 and want to go back to my old FD or shifter (i am not sure where the problem is). The new Front Derailleur or shifter does not shift well at all. I have had it adjusted 4 times and still have trouble making the shift from the small ring to the big ring. Never had the problem before. LBS says it is because of a compact FSA crank I have on it, but that is what i had before with no issues.
