You were not alone - about half the field didn’t show. It was more wet than anything. By mile 3 I was soaked from the legs on down and my feet were frozen solid. Not a day for a PR, that is for sure.
Definitely not a beautiful day, but not every race day is. However, I definitely should not have worn heavy winter tights because my legs felt 30 lbs heavier by mid-race. If anything a GREAT workout.
My father did it and said he had a blast. The conditions were so messy that he said they just had fun with it.
I passed on the Shamrock Shovel. More for the reason that driving in from the 'burbs through all the crap to run for 35 mins didn’t seem like it would be fun.
Had a bunch of friends who ran it ( they live in the city ) and had a good time. No PRs out there, and they all got soaked, but made the best of the conditions.
