Shameless Race Plug

All-

Just a last plug for the Limestone Charity Triathlon and Duathlon this weekend in Kingston, ON. All proceeds go to the Kingston Military Family Resource Center supporting soldiers and their families. A timely event, given that this is Memorial Day weekend.

Some top level local and regional talent is signed up.

Tony O’Keefe, 2nd in the last two Ultraman competitions, is going for the double. Running the duathlon with an 8:00 a.m. start, then coming back with a late wave start in the pool and running the Tri.

Jane Armstrong, a past age group Canadian National champion is competing in the women’s 50-54.

Speedy Gonsalves, a Canadian Nationals top ten age grouper is coming over from Toronto.

Sharon Donnelly, Olympian and Pan American Games Champ, though not competing, is the Race Director.

I’ll extend my challenge ( to local military personnel) on to members of this forum…I’ll buy a post-race beer at the officer’s mess for anybody that signs up for this race and beats my time (Du or Tri), projected for about 1:25 for the 2.2k/20k/5k route.

See you there.

I am in. I’m looking forward to a fun event for a good cause.

My goal is to start in an early swim wave and cross the finish line before O’Keefe catches up.

Another plug…for Central Floridians readers, consider running the Colonial 5k tomorrow morning at Vista Lakes. There are solid prizes for the top 10 men and women. The race is a fundraiser for the Colonial HS men’s and women’s track/cross-country programs.
