Set up of "Training Week"

Would like to hear from fellow AG athletes who have broken out of the mold of a 7 day training week when structuring their training. As an older AG triathlete I am finding that trying to plan everything within the confines of 7 days simply no longer works for me and would love to hear from anyone who has gone to say a 10 day “week” 12 day “week” etc.

I’m not interested in the actual workouts but would love to see how you have allocated the individual workout(s) (to include rest days and strength training days) over the given “week”

Any help would be appreciated

I use a 14 day period to plan out my schedule, because that’s what fits into my life. Every other weekend is pretty much unavailable to me for training.

It pretty much works out like this:

M - masters swim
T - swim on my own
W - masters
Th - masters
F - off
Sa - off
Su - masters or swim on own in evening
M masters
T - swim on own
W - masters
Th - masters
F - off
Sa - masters
Su - double - masters LC in AM, SC in PM

Occasionally I’ll have time to get in a lunchtime workout too, depending on work.

7 day cycle. During the week I am limited to only AM workouts 1-2 hours before work. Tuesday nights the kids have swim lessons, so I can hit the pool while the wife watches them. Rest days come when life gets in the way, so I don’t really plan them. I just move workouts around.

M - AM swim
T - AM run, PM swim
W - AM bike, AM run
Th - AM run
F - AM swim, AM bike
Sa - AM run, PM swim
Su - AM bike, PM run

Thanks…but I’m trying to move away from the 7 day “week”.

Looking for folks who have a set up on 10 day 12 day “weeks” etc.

The question is, why do you want to move away from the 7 day week? If you answer that question then you’ll be able to figure out what cycle will work best for your situation.

ETA - when you are planning, just remember that the rest of the world operates on a 7 day week. If you can’t fit everything into that 7 days, then usually your best bet is to plan in multiples of 7 days, unless you have some other reason that screws it up (e.g. shift work cycles don’t always correspond to a 7 day cycle).

Maybe switching to a 37 hour day would be better
