Sesmoiditis...still

Took a month off of running completely. Ran 30 min’s yesterday…problems again today! Any help is appreciated. Xrays didn’t turn up anything bad.
rroof…I pm’d you about this as well.

Can I train through this?

hmmm…I ran through mine until it was in a number of pieces and they ended up doing surgery and removing it. :frowning: I’d be interested to see what rroof has to say!

Have you looked into custom orthotics? I had a pair for the first 3 years after I broke my sesamoid and have had minimal problems since.

What shoes are you training in? I found that I need to need up the cushioning in shoe.I went from mizuno wave precision to wave rider It alleviated all issues I had with my sesamoids.

I’ve been using Asics 2100 varieties for several years now. I do use orthotics that were made to specifically help my PF…which they did superbly.

I have had it for years. It comes and goes. Here is what I did–Get a pair of Spenco insoles, the green ones with the black closed-cell foam rubber bottoms. Cut about a nickel-sized hole directly under your big toe joint. Wear these insoles all the time. The hole takes the pressure off the sesamoid and I GUARANTEE you will feel instant relief. If need be, you can also build up the insole around the hole by applying some molefoam on the bottom of the insole in a “C” or “L” shape. The main idea is, you want to spread the impact zone to other areas of your forefoot and keep it off your sesamoid area.

PM back at 'ya! Good luck

thanks. I’ll give this a go. Wouldn’t you know I finally qualified for Boston and now this!

rroof…pm’d you back again.
