You can learn about a lot of things on this forum… here’s one more!

I’ll be contributing periodically as I see necessary.

Interesting… I had always assumed that “poser” was simply an Americanized spelling of the word “poseur”, much like “donut”.

btw - I don’t believe much is off-topic here. It took me half the thread to figure out what the hell everyone was talking about on that college ball “my alma matter is better than your alma matter” thread.

This preson is not what you think he thinks he is?
Who makes the judgement you or him?
Why are you so worried about what he thinks about himself?
Why can’t we just accept people and not judge?
If he is very insecure and says that he is what he is not, what does it make us to appoint ourselves to sit in judgement?
A POSEUR is someone who thinks they are superior enought to judge who is!

Not aimed at you , just people who run newbies, week-end worriers, now-and-theners off by calling them names
.

I just assumed that most people meant poseur when they said poser and really didn’t care either way since it’s meaning can be inferred contextually. I base this on how badly I got flamed during the spelling/grammar wars that happened some months ago.

I wasn’t aware that poser was a separate word, though.

From dictionary.com:

pos·er ( P ) Pronunciation Key (pzr)
n.

  1. One who poses.
  2. A poseur.

I think TriTeacher is just pointing out a correct spelling, not judging anyone.

Thanks for the Denewon Dictionary Definition, though. Screw Websters, huh?

LMMFAO! The beauty of the internet.

Q: What’s the term used to describe someone that thinks they’re superior to the person who thinks they’re superior to the poseur?

A: A dickhead.

With all due respect, you know what’s EVEN funnier?

By definition, you’ve just called yourself a “dickhead”…

We all are at one time or another. Today’s my day if that’s the case. Is there prize money or a gift-certificate involved?

Just tryin’ to be a l’il ornery. Didn’t think I was being superior.

Your post was an example of what we discussed the other day where you can’t just post something simple without typing 6.5 pages of explanantion or typing 6,982 disclaimers for every exception that might come up.

Again, the beauty of the internet.

MY post?

I said: “I think TriTeacher is just pointing out a correct spelling, not judging anyone. Thanks for the Denewon Dictionary Definition, though. Screw Websters, huh?

I’m not sure how that would need “6.5 pages of explanantion or …6,982 disclaimers for every exception that might come up

I’m not trying to drag this out or be defensive, but truthfully I have no idea what you are talking about. I emailed you directly to keep this out of the forum, but you did not respond. In that regard, I have no idea what you are talking about. Care to enlighten me?

Sorry. I just click “reply” on the last post made, rather than hunt down the one I was replying to specifically.

I was replying to denewon or whoever it is, not you. Sorry for the confusion.
