Two days in a row flying the flag for Cervelo- Jacob Piils on a break and in front of the camera for a lonnnnng time. We actually have had 2-3 inquiries per day about Cervelo R2.5’s.
That is how sports marketing works. People are noticing these bikes. Awesome. Now, if I only had one…
That sounds great that people are getting more interested in the cervelos. My question is this: are people inquiring about BMC? Because it seems as if they have been a very small company in the United States market and that with the promotion of Tyler Hamilton riding the bike has that bikes share in the market increased? I really don’t know much about the bike company but will be looking into the company after seeing Tyler ride it. Seems as though the bike didn’t work so well on the TTT though…
Could you give me the information about the brand. I would like to know what you think about it. What is there to understand about the company. Do they have a specific mission that buyer are not understanding. Are there prices competitive? Do they offer enough variety too hit all parts of the market? Thanks
“Seems as though the bike didn’t work so well on the TTT though”
i thought the opposite. to do that well in the TTT with only 5 guys for a good part of the ride speaks well of the bike. unless, of course, the reason the other 4 guys weren’t there was because of equipment failures.
It’s always interesting to see how this works and I would be interseted in hearing Gerard’s thoughts on this. However, kudos to Gerard and Phil for making the jump up to this level of sponsorship with Cervelo - it’s no small commitment of time and reasources to do this.
It’s interesting because in addition to mainstream well known bike brands (Specialized, Trek, Colnago) you have somewhat obscure brands like Decathlon to up-and-comers like Cervelo all involved in professional cycling. The very fact that customers are walking in the door of the shop asking about the bikes is an indirect indicator that this form of marketing works.
Interesting perspective - although brands such as Trek, Klein, Raleigh, Specialized, and Giant have become mainstays in bike shops across the US, in Europe, I think brands such as MBK, Lapeirre, and Decathlon tend to be more common!
