Selle Flite saddle; Look cleats

Couple misc questions…
Anyone have any good/bad results with a Flite saddle on a tri bike? I can get one cheap (not ridden) and may try it, currently not having great comfort with my aspide tri.

Has Look changed their red cleats?
The ones I see in stores have some white coloring, still mostly red, and the screw slots are shorter and maybe narrow as well, and larger screw heads, all of which means less adjustable.

I can’t answer the long-term comfort issue on the Flite saddle. Once I set up my road bike with some aero bars and adjusted everything, mine seemed fine, but it is not on my primary bike.

The new look cleats have teflon on the nose and in the heel. It is supposed to stop the creaking that happens when they start to wear and get that black buildup. It is also supposed to make them last longer. I would buy them in a heartbeat, except that I have a new set of the others in a box and it seems a waste not to use them.

I’ve used Flite saddles since my first road bike many years ago, just stuck with them as they seem to work fine for me whatever bike I’ve used them on, road or tri geometry. I’m a skinny bloke and for some reason, the very narrow shape seems to fit my arse well (sorry, may be a little too descriptive :-)) Saddles and fit are so subjective, though, so I think I just got lucky. I know people who have never found a saddle they are comfortable with for any lentgh of time.

Cheers

The red cleats with the white (to show wear) are for use with Keo pedals only (it’s a smaller cleat). The red ones are still in production for non-Keo pedals but I think they are making a new red/white version as well.

Look makes a white-tipped red cleat designed to stop squeeks in their regular (non-keo) pedals
.

Ok!? The white tips are also on the Keos. Usually when they start squeaking it’s because they are wearing out (at least in my case). When the white portion wears down, it may be time to replace them. Thus my comments regarding them as wear indicators.

It looks to me that the white portion is a different material, specifically designed to stop the squeek.

I have Flite on all my bikes…the standard Ti one…works for me, I know people who cant handle the fact that the tip is not padded for Tri though. I dont know that I would suggest one to anyone who has not ridden that seat on road. I would bet that you would be better off with a Tri specific seat…worth the money if your bottom is not used to the Flite.
