Forgive me if I missed it over the weekend, but I scanned the front page here and didn’t see a thread already which would be surprising for such a potentially hot (added apologies) topic.
I only found out about it from a friend’s line of tweets; seems like it’s been largely glossed over if not entirely ignored by domestic media, which likewise seems hard to believe for such an inflammatory (dammit, sorry again) topic ~ which would then lead to the idea that it’s being suppressed on purpose, except for foreign-based media… Really?
Is this seriously just another ‘weird news’ nothingburger and I simply missed the minimal commentary here on the non-event?
I’d guess that it’s because US news agencies generally don’t report on suicides. Awful story, though. That’s definitely near the top of the list on ways I don’t want to go.

PCP is the only drug that had it’s own drug-warning video that they made us watch in high school. This was a long time ago. Nasty stuff.
suicides tend to go in ‘runs’ of similar methods - ie., if a bunch of media report that a guy jumped off a bridge, you’ll often see a spike of more people going and jumping off the same bridge.
one way to prevent that is to ‘break the script’ by not reporting on the methods. so there’s a sort of tacit agreement in many places that the media doesn’t report the specifics of suicide.
that might be the case here. alternatively, it was hushed, or there’s just so much other batshit stuff going on that this doesn’t register the way it might have once. . .
