A few days ago, an indigenous group who has claim over land on Vancouver island made veiled threats to provincial infrastructure including a major hydro dam and highway on that same land, if they didnāt get their way in a treaty negotiation. Mobster type stuff.
Carney is hellbent on major infrastructure projects. A lot of those include BC to transport to Asian markets.
Anything in BC gets held up for years by negotiations with indigenous groups.
This land situation complicates things further as countless different groups are laying claim to overlapping territories.
BC is typically politically irrelevant at the federal level. Trudeau only came here to surf, snowboard and dress up for indigenous photo ops. But I think the way things are going that is going to change.
Funny thisā¦we just came back from the kidās concert, too. Back in dā old communist country, we had to thank the commies every Monday in school for our happy childhood etc. Same was at public events. It was considered an honour to say the thanks and praises and only the best students were given this honour. It was fake, disingenuous, mandatory, forced, done under the threat of punishment if you donāt. I can only imagine how our parents and grandparents felt. Actually, I donāt have to imagine it any more, I feel a knot in my stomach every time I hear this bullshit.
