Seemingly don't build houses on an Indian Graveyard

Can’t annex us if there’s no country left! :face_with_tongue:

I think there is a lot of stupid stuff that is going to happen before we somehow resolve all this. Native people are ten percent of the population. The fertility rate among Native people in Canada continues to decline like the rest of us. The other thing is unless we start rewarding productivity in this country and develop our natural resources there won’t be health care etc for anyone including Native people

If there was ever a case to argue laches this would be it

Well, they may have found a sharp rock resembling an arrow head and their all knowing elders and knowledge keepers claim that they heard from their grandfathers who heard from somebody else’s grandfathers that once upon a time they picked berries somewhere here, so, sacred, ancestral, traditional yada yada yada

Ruh Roh…. Cowichan Tribe (the one who won the recent land claim in Vancouver) has been operating a massive illegal dump on their land that is leeching chemicals in to ground water.

This has been an open secret in the construction industry here for years. We have insanely tight environmental rules regarding construction waste. Even to do a small bathroom reno, these costs can be in the thousands of dollars. For a whole house, easily tens of thousands of dollars approaching six figures. The result is there are these indigenous construction workers who come in, strip the house of anything with asbestos, lead, asphalt etc for a fraction of the cost, and they go dump it on their land.

This is not the only dump like this in the area. Too bad it’s their land and their rules…

Another land claim in City of Coquitlam (just outside of Vancouver).

These land claims have good potential to totally f…. up the real estate market.

including an $80,000 charge from the First Nation for a smudging ceremony, repatriation of bones, an archeological dig and a culturally-appropriate security person to guard the site.

What a fucking scam…the land is a garbage dump

This happened on a site of ours back in 2004ish and it ended up costing the owners around $200,000 and delayed their house build by 6 months.

You effectively have non-functioning property laws combined with extortion

Property is theft.

Yes, we do.

Maybe don’t tell him about our tenants rights superceding those of owners…

Given the current situation, we don’t know who the actual owner is.

The article doesn’t mention any evidence that the sculls are native. Is it one more of those, we say so and you must trust us?

Yeah, but reconciliation. This will really contribute to us being best buddies. This will also affect the nearby properties.

Why are the dead valued more than the living?

Because there is TONS of money in them.
