Seeking ST's "Infinit" wisdom

Based on the near-unanimous positivity in the comments about Infinit made here, I’ve decided to give it a whirl, but have a few questions:

  1. Flavor choice is obviously personal preference, but what’s yours? Think any of the flavors suck?
  2. How many ounces of recommended concentration drink does a pound of powder make? Looks like five servings per pound, but how many ounces to a serving?
  3. Using the slider bar page, I assume that’s for one serving?
  4. I’d probably pack some powder to take with me for refilling on long rides. Cool to go with Ziploc bags or are teh individual-size serving packets from Infinit worth the extra cost?

Thanks ST!

Re 1. Lemon Line… (I am not a big fan of Orange flavor sport drinks and even less fruit punch)
Re 2. No clue & do not care…
Re 3. Yes (2 cups per serving)
Re 4. Nope… do a contentrate mix… In one bottle of gatorade (the 20 Oz smth/710 ml bottle), I go with 3 servings. One sip of concentrate, 1 or more sip of water.

I like lemon. Tastes like a margaurita.

This depends on your mix. They use dozens of different scoop sizes accordingly.

Two scoops + 20 ounces water = 1 hour

You can mix the powder into a sludge (3-4 fluid ounces per 1 hour serving) that is more compact (though heavier) then the powder. Carry the concentrated mix in anything from a 5 ounce flask to a 24 ounce, 6 hour Iron distance bottle.

I like the orange for training and racing, I think it still taste good when it is warm. What I have been doing on my long rides is fill 2 bottles with the recommended serving and then mix one concentrated bottle. I hope to drink the two normal ones and then when I stop for water, I fill the empty bottles from the concentrated bottle and then fill all 3 with water=5 bottles without having to carry bags. You could even make more if you mixed your concentrated bottle even heavier.

The slide bar is for one serving (20 oz bottle).

Hope this helps

I also do the concentrated version. I dialed the flavor (fruit punch) back to only 1 notch on the slider and have the calories cranked up. I can get 4 servings into 1 large Water bottle (About 1400 calories).

Here’s my sliders:

I follow their guides for osmoality. I’ve had really good luck with it this season so far.

Lemon lime for flavor because it still tastes good when warm. As lugging around extra powder in ziplocks bags–don’t bother, make a concentrate. At my calorie intake rate of about 330 calories/hr I can easily get 3 hours in one 20 oz water bottle without it being too syrupy, or 2 bottles for a 6 hr IM ride. If your prepping for a longer race, be sure to train the way the way you plan race.

I’m another lemon-lime person, cuz yes, it does taste kinda like a margarita!

My mix has 300 cals per 2 scoop serving. Makes it easy to do the math for more concentrated mixes.

I go with as much in a feed bottle as I need for a given ride. I’ve put up to 1500 cals in a single bottle, just make sure you chase each hit with some water.

For IM’s I ran 2 concentrated bottles of ~1200 cals each. 1 on bike, 1 in special needs (in a little cooler bag)
(I take in anywhere from 450-525 cals / hr on the bike. This is higher than most. YMMV.)

For HIM’s I go with more like 300 cals/hr. So for an expected 2:30 bike I’d have 750 cals in there, for example.
Again, YMMV.

You get a surprisingly large number of servings from the big jug. I think it’s a great deal actually, when you figger in all the electrolytes, etc you can add in, and therefore don’t need to mess with on the bike.
(I had the sodium at about 500mg/serving, since I’m a seriously sweaty dude)

I’ve used the lemon lime and the orange. I THINK I prefer the Lemon-Lime. Keep the flavor slider way down. It’ll taste like not enough when you start, but you’ll be glad after a few hours.
One container makes 25 servings. You can also get a ‘half.’
I pack powder in zip lock bags for long rides and workouts. Works great. I make a concentrate in gel flasks for races.
