Frank, that is probably the single dumbest paragraph posted on this forum on this topic.
Things are changing in Iraq. It is looking more and more like it is time to win.

Amazing how we thought we could go in and make the region more secure and now it is far less secure than 5 years ago. But sometimes that’s what happens … Will a U.S. presence for 10 or 20 more years make the region even less secure than it is today? Or will all hell really break loose when we leave? I’m inclined to hope it won’t get much worse, but it certainly can get much worse, whether we are there or not.

You mean like, even before and during Desert Storm? Or the bio weapons program afterwards that we only found about because of the defectors? Or how about the fact that the report after the war said that their WMD programs were in a holding pattern waiting for sanctions to end? Have you ever read the Duelfer report that talked about why the administration thought there were WMDs? You are aware that even Iraqi generals thought that Iraq was harboring WMD, right?

There are only two people in this country who believes that there were WMD - that would be you and Cheney.
Where are WMDs after occupying the country for five years? Has Saddam been able to successfully dismantle WMDs and hide them in the mountains and caves of Pakistan? Have they been buried in the sand? Oh, perhaps UFO has taken them to hide for Sadam and his friends.
Many of these so called “defectors” had their own self-serving agenda to get the U.S. interested in getting back into Iraq.
I guarantee this - - that should Iraq sign the new Oil Law transferring management of the oil fields to US corps. — things will get better in Iraq promptly, we will magically find a way to fix it. You just wait and see.
Let me rephrase…there was WMD, but it was largely found and the programs dismantled by the inspectors before the US invasion. So, while there was WMD at one point in time, it was gone by the time we invaded. I don’t believe that there were WMD programs that were mysteriously shipped out of the country under our noses. The post I was responding to made it sound like there had never been WMD in Iraq after Desert Storm, which was patently untrue.

Obviously al-Maliki is not privy to the special intelligence reports that our all-knowing-President-Bush gets delivered to him every morning from 16 intelligence agencies all synchronized on the situation.
I would agree with Bush that we should stay in Iraq until that country is the beacon of shining democratic light for all of the Middle East. Once all the Arabs see what a great job we have done in Iraq they will love and worship us and they will build statues of Bush in their squares and they will glorify him in their mosques. The peoples of the Middle East will see the example Iraq will have become and they will topple their own ruthless dictators, Ayathollas, and instead put in their own uncorruptable democratic governments. All the peoples and their governmens will the destroy al Queida, and they will love Israel and America. Jews and Muslims will walk in peace, as friends, co-marry, and rewrite history. America will then be repaid with security, cash for the Iraq war, unlimited oil contracts, and the knowledge that we have finally set those ignorant people straight. Oh, what a glorious day that will be.
All of you who do not believe the vision of the Bush Administration are just blind fools. Do you now see the good we are doing! Never question our mission there again.
