a while back someone posted links to videos of thorpe, hoogie, hackett et.all swimming, and i’ve loved them. so, where can i find footage of seb coe’s outrageous 1:41? i think that was one of the all-time great performances in track history (it stood for 16 years!) but have never seen the race.
for that matter, any other video of great runners, past or present?
you can come to El Paso Camp in September and watch the new running coach for LD track and X country…Paul Ereng. he also came with a couple of sub 28’ - 10km runners
Send me a PM and I’ll hook you up with more running footage than you could EVER imagine. I have that Seb Coe run, as well as all the miles that he ans Ovet ran in that amazing period when they traded the WR.
I have Steve Scotts AR (at the time less than a second off WR) I even have an indoor mile with Pre, Chouglin, Scott, Baye (totally fucke dthe spelling of those names) and COUNTLESS XC races (all of Kenny’s wins, Paula Jr worlds and sr worlds)
Anyway, I have the running porn HOOKUP! It may take a few weeks to get in bit I’ll tey to get you to the top of the “track porn” list.
Yeah, I’ve got “trackhead” DVD’s as well. I can vouge for the magnificence of them, or at least the one with tons of WR’s. Truly awesome to see, very affordable.
Poor guy took so much shit over those dvd’s. He would sit at aork and burn em off, make the covers by hand and send them out in between customers. He spends a couple hundred a dvd just to get all the races that he has not including the materials. Boy worked his ass off just to provide some wicked cool dvd’s for a few track nerds and got himslef into a hole making them.
He’s got a new disk on the way that he’s not selling but it is SUPER COOL! amazing races form the last year or so including the oly’s. I’m going to try and score a copy from him! Littlefucker owes me!
Yeah well, I think the problem is that letsrun doesn’t require registration and people somehow turn into complete jerks when they don’t have to be accountable. They were treating the situation like it was a huge corporation selling the things, when in reality everybody knew it was just some dude with another job who took the time to put a bunch of races together. Bummer that it worked out as it apparently did. Nonetheless, I’m stoked I got a nice DVD!
I’m still trippin’ on the fact your girlfriend has three inches on you, and you’re 6’1".
Seb Coe is my alltime favourite runner. I used to have the footage of the '84 Olympic 1500m final (one of his classic performances)… on Beta … I wonder what ever became of that tape…
<< Baye (totally fucke dthe spelling of those names)
that would be Filbert Bayi of Tanzania. I actually had to run against his brother who ran for North Texas State back in the early 80’s. Beat him to win the conference X-C title.
How dare you say that your all time fav runner isn’t Haile Gebrelassie???
shame on you! Gabrelassie is pretty good but Seb Coe was the superstar back when I was a teenaged up and coming runner so he gets the nod from me.
but then, what can I say of someone who chose betamax vs. VHS heheeh I am not responsible for this since I was 15 when my parents bought the VCR and as a kid living in the sticks with an aerial that could only pick up 3 channels I thought that it was a pretty cool machine!
francois, which shool is he now coaching at? U Texas? Awesome! He didn’t bring a certain Mr. Ben Kurgat with him, did he?
We used to watch Paul do sets of 400s near his peak training. When the UVA girls’s soccer team came out to the track, his times would slowly dip down… 48… 47…46… quite humbling if you happened to be doing any sort of workout on the track at the time.
I recall the day when Olympic 10,000m Champion Miruts Yifter came to Toronto. At the time( Late 70’s) there was only one semi- permanant 200m indoor track in the Toronto area that was put up for the winter at the CNE. Just about every serious runner from sprinters to distance people used this track at least once a week. Yifter was in town to compete in the Toronto Star Indoor games. He was at CNE indoor track to do a work-out. Everyone else was doing there own thing until Yifter started to get into his workout and then people started to step off the track, or stop what they where doing and just watch the little man, absolutely fly around the track. It was amazing to watch.
I started running seriousy around that time, and used to love watching him and Ovett crank them out. My big sister was a student at Loughborough University when Seb was there and when I visited one of her friends (who was a phys ed major) would take me down to the track sessions to watch. She kept offerring to take me over and introduce me, but as a shy 16 year old runner I just was too star struck to let her, but I loved to just watch him run
He was pure poetry in motion, made me want to just hang up my shoes. His feet didn’t seem to even hit the ground.
