Seatpost cracks

Yesterday i noticed 2 cracks on the aero seatpost tube of my QR tequilo: maybe i’ve tight too much bolts.
Anyway seatpost tube seems to resist and cracks don’t advance.
Do you think i have to change it immediately or can i ride my bike nonetheless ?

Sure you can ride the bike…let us know your name, age and location so that we can nominate you for a Darwin Award.

DO NOT RIDE IT until you have it properly inspected. That IS covered under warranty if you are the original owner.

Is it the frame or the seatpost?

I’ve seen a few aluminum QR’s crack in the frame around the seatpost. I have an old Scott Waimea that also is cracked there. With an add-on seatpost clamp, I keep riding it, but I do watch to make sure the crack isn’t growing – mainly it’s a trainer bike, but I take it on the road occasionally.

If it’s the seatpost, then just keep riding it, and be prepared to finish any particular ride standing up…

It’s on seatpost. There are 2 cracks that seems almost perfectly made in the tube structure!
So you are telling me to change tube with a new one… or preparing to fall on the street?

You may not fall, just saying that if it fails, you’ll be finishing the ride standing up.

You should get it checked out. Imagine you’re flying down a hill at 40mph and you hit a bump that finishes the job. Do you really think you’ll be able to react, stand up on the pedals and control the bike before you’ve face planted?

I went to a mechanical yesterday and he tolds me that seatpost tube is ok and has resisted at some strenght and resistance proof that he has done; the only thing he tolds me it’s: “check it out sometimes if cracks will grown and than you must change tube with a new one”.
Should I trust in this? Maybe or not, tube cost almost 200€ (250$) (in Italy QR is not imported so i’ve got to buy it from a uk seller) and if it’s possible i prefer save money if possible.
If there’s some other method for stop the cracks or to repair carbon seatpost can someone help me?

Are you the original owner? If so - call ABG, if not - call ABG. No matter what - get a new post from ABG.

I managed to ride a few months when a crack developed on my downtube of my soloist. Wouldnt risk the seatpost though
