There is a revision in the works for the Sprint M 45-49. Possibly one or two others.
Is it typical that the top three overall are not listed in their respective age groups?
For me, I was first in my age group, but I know there was a guy in the overall who was in my age category and beat me.

Andy: Most RD’s pull a minimum of male and female overall winners for separate awards. Many also pull masters winners (40+) out for separate honors. It is not uncommon to see 3-5 overalls pulled out of the age group(s). This is a great way to get hardware into more hands.
You assumed right - typically the Top 3 (sometimes 5) OVERALL are not listed/placing in their AG.
I won the 40+ honors at a duathlon this year; I wasn’t sure if they’d also give me the 45-49 award, so I stuck around. It was weird to hear them give the award to the “winner of the 45-49 age group”, when in fact I was the fastest in that age group that day.
Looks like there is still an error in the 40-45 Men’s Olyimpic Distance. The second place man has a run split of 25:56 when the others are all around 48 minutes. It seems like that is the time for one loop of the course.
I happen to believe it is stranger to leave 'em in. When you are awarding an Overall or Masters position, my thinking is that you then pull 'em out of the age group. The idea being if you are awarded a top spot, that is elevated from the AG awards so you already have a “higher” spot on the podium. Does not always happen however. I’ve been to plenty of events where Overall or Masters winners are not pulled from their respective group(s) and get called up twice. You just have to smile. No reflection on anything other than the RD’s frame of mind. “In a perfect world…”
