Kind of easy to lose your faith in people today. After meeting up with Andypants for a coffee at the Starbucks in sleepy Port Moody I realised, as we walked back to the cars, that I had left my wallet in the shop. So I walked back in and asked for it. Unfortunately some low life had got to it before me and decided that my credit card and UK drivers licence were desirable!
That and holding for a culmulative 45 minutes to report to the credit card company and RCMP put the icing on the cake!
Rats and Snails…so sorry to hear about that. It’s incidents like that that make you loose faith in humanity, then the next time when someone returns your misplaced wallet or stops traffic for a mama duck and her ducklings, it fully restores it. Keep the faith…there is more good than bad, unfortunately the bad is more evident at times.
I know what you mean. I said later to my gf, I no longer belive in karma. I have handed in two wallets that I have found, returned a cellphone and, as a kid, handed in a large sum of money to the nearest Police Station. I guess the other person needed it more than I did. The thing that really sucked was when I rang Morgan Stanley to get a replacement card they said that they would only send it to my home address. When I explained that I had advised them in advance that I would be out here for 3 weeks and that I am here for another 10 days AND that I had answered all their security questions satisifactorily I consided their checks against fraud to be sufficient. Even explaining that Amex would sent the card out to me wasn’t good enough to sway them!
I guess I will pay this trip off and close my account.
That sucks dude, bad karma to all that will not give you a hand. I would like you to pm me when you have time and access. You said something a while back i want to touch base on with you. BTW I think I got the job I was looking at.
THanks, Andy great to meet you too, although I was disapointed that there was just a coffee cup in front of you and no plate with chocolate or cake crumbs! Shame on you!
Hope you get to go fly fishing in the morning and come back with some good trout/salmon for dinner.
Sorry to hear that bro - that really sucks. You never really expect that kind of shit in Port Moody… What kind of a shady coffee place did Andy take you to?
Hope your trip to the island goes well, and that your back holds up for the race next weekend.
Yeah, I was kind of surprised at that happening in PM. According to the cop I spoke to that branch of 'buckys (St John’s Road) is sited next to and below low income accomodation so things aren’t always returned, if you catch my drift. The Newport village one, he suggested, would have produced a different outcome.
Have a great time in El Paso, open a can of whupass on Francois and say I said Hi

I hope this doesn’t happen to you good people.
No belief in karma? How do you know? Maybe if you hadn’t returned those wallets a safe or piano would’ve fallen 10 floors into your head?

Aztec does have a point. Also, the old saying “could be worse” does have merit from time to time. When we think life is sucking a bit, well maybe it is, but it’s likely a lot worse for a lot of people in New Orleans or even places in the world that we’ve never heard of right now… so maybe our situation isn’t so bad.
But yeah, that really sucks with the wallet. I think my parents taught me very good values and I can’t imagine profiting from someone else’s misfortune… I don’t see where someone thinks they have the right to take something that’s not theirs, no matter what their situation is.
So, maybe there was some good karma, at least your wallet wasn’t stolen by someone while it was in your possession, that could have been a lot worse.
Voilà my glass is half full contribution for the day
