Scott CR1 Vs Cervelo P2 C - Any Opinions to Help Me Purchase

I was all set to buy a Cervelo P2 C, then I ran into the Scott CR1 Plasma Pro. Have been searching for reviews on the CR1 or some type of comparative analysis with no luck. All reviews found have been pro CR1, by CR1 owners, and pro P2C, by P2C owners. Now I want to tap into the slowtwitch knowledge.

I understand the P2C has an adjustable seat, but is that enough to choose it over the CR1. Please help with your thoughts.

Cadel got 2nd on a Velo Vie/Planet X, why not buy one of those and save some $$? $1299 for the frame/fork and it was faster than any Cervelo or Scott on the road at the Tour today.

What is wrong with the Ridley TT frames?

I think the S1,299 is in UK/Brittish Pounds, which would be about $2,672 in USD. And that is with Shimano 105. Is the bike worth the $300 savings, for 105 components and not including shipping?

I think Cadel Evans rides a Ridley.

Cadel was riding a Ridley BADGED bike, but it was not a Ridley  Tour riders are famous for that!

I personally love my Planet X stealth carbon pro as well as the geometry is perfect for me. It is very well built, solid BB yet rides great, super light, etc. I’m NOT a fan of the Scott (seat post travel issues, fat head tube, non-replaceable rear derailler, short warranty, etc.). My other bike is a Cervelo Soloist and they are great bikes, but the geometry between the P2C and Stealth are pretty different and that should really be your main concern.

As for price, the Planet X (the frame designs is theirs BTW) can be had full Ultegra with their own proprietary aerobars (WAY nicer than the P2C spec build) for much less than the P2C. The U.S. distributor is Zedsport - call and ask for Peter (or any other chap there with a British accent) and they will help you for sure! They also have some great carbon race wheels that can be added and you can get a ready to race rig for a song (comparatively speaking considering all these bikes are damn expensive)

Hi,
The P2c is the choice (of the 2)
Narrow top tube
Long front center
handles good in fwd position
steep and low

ps, I do not sell either brand
but I do make more Cervelos go fast than anyone else in my part of the world
.

TomPinc:

I am thinking about going full force into into Triathlons (halfs and fulls when my endurance comes back up). Have a stong running background rather, leg strength and endurance. I will compete in Sprints and Olys to see how I do and results will be the final determination. I do not know enough to ask right questions…what should I read first or do first. What direction should I be going in?

I am a strong runner. This should translate into strong bike and can get the swim down with practice. Have been working on technique.

I would apologize for the vague question, but I won’t because I really want an aswer.

with all the drugs in the tour it’s very hard to make an assertion based on results… the only true test is to put both bikes in the tunnel. What if he was just juiced better? or was putting out enough watts to overcome a worse frame? I’m not saying he was, i’m just saying you’re drawing a conclusion that isn’t necessarily logical.
