Scott 100k bar water bottle tip!

So since setting up my bike with scott 100k bars I’ve been contemplating how to get a between the arms water bottle holder set up on it. The standard zip-tie a bottle holder approach doesn’t work at all.

So I came up with this

1 “electra custom cup holder” cannibalized
1 vision tech elbow pad mount bolt, size medium
1 vision tech aero bottle holder

One of the holes in the vision tech holder magically lines up perfectly for the electra cup mount, and the vision tech elbow rest bolt is magically the right length and thread size!

bam!

king cage stem mount ftw, wheres your egromo head unit?

im not sure I will like the bottle that far back, but I would give it a try sometime.

the ergomo actually fits nicely in the bottle holder when training =)

More interested in what you have on the counter, bagels? energy drink? what looks like an ashtray??? If you give up the cigs you might have to spend less time obsessing with aero

Kevin

there is a tin of cat food, a box of wine, some bike chain lube, and a circular tray that holds our keys/change and random crap

no tobacco products!

I’m pondering the 100K setup if I can find some.

I was thinking the reaction time to the brakes might be an issue, but on further consideration it might be quicker? Just slide up the extension a bit and you are braking?

100k’s are 26.0 correct?

What kind of arm rest cups/hardware you using there? I like the size of those, but not familiar with them.

Thanks

I think they are actually a little smaller than 26.0, I’ve got a shim in there with a 26.0 stem.

brakes are fine

elbow-rest hardware were sent to me by someone here, don’t remember what brand they are.

Did you need to shim the tt brake levers too or were the Vision’s able to snug down properly?

Sorry for the a.m. barrage, but trying to get all my questions down at once.

the brake levers have a little nub at the end which you have to grind away so you can slap them past the tips. after that you are good.

Jack, if you’re going to keep the Jagwire shifter mounts you’re going to have to refrain from arguing the anti weight weenie point of view for a at least one day as punishment.

Styrrell

being a weight weenie is just fine as long as the part

  1. does not hurt aero
  2. is cheap relative to your income

=)

plus I enjoy the dissonance of my crusty old grey frame and the shiny gold shifters!

also I don’t think the shimano shifters fit in there without them.

Interesting on the I.D. of that shifter b/c it might work out perfectly. I run a single ring and like friction only so will probably use an older Suntour.

I used CX brakes on my setup…they’re easy to find and typically have a hinged clamp.

The 100Ks shouldn’t need a shim in a 26.0 stem…the center section of the bars has a “sleeve” that should be 26.0

CeeGees (https://www.ceegees.com/) might still have some of the custom mounts they made left…the last time I talked to them (when I ordered some pads for a USE Tula bar) they owner told me that he only had a few sets left. Give them a call. If they don’t have any, then you need to find some of the old Scott bar pad mounts…

Shimano shifters fit perfectly in mine.

thanks Tom…good stuff. i just remembered i have all my mounting hardware from an extremely old set of Mavic aero bars(think Jeff Devlin). was the first bar i remember having fully adjustable arm rest potential, but a lame bar, big u shape and no way to do bar ends, grip shift only. this could be a fun project!

I can’t find that bottle cage anywhere. Any idea where I can source it?

Something old, something new. Nice.

Do you slap that U lock on to your super aero set-up? It doesn’t seem to have an aero profile.
