OK I went to a Chiro on for some Graston work. The first two sessions seemed to help a bit and I had no issues. The third session he was more aggressive and really hit the areas that were bothering me. This seemed to help the problem considerably. However later in that week I developed knots in that calf. These knots are/were unlike the typical knots I’d get. They are significantly harder, are less painful, and seem much closer to the skin. In fact it woudl appear that they are directly attached to the skin. The best description I can come up with is it feels like a piece of cardboard a few millimeters under my skin.
Well I went back for the forth session and he agreed that I had some knotting, stated he wasn’t sure what caused it and worked it out. This was by far the most aggressive session and most painful. However once again later that week they reappeared but even covering a larger area this time to the point that a 6" section from mid calf down about 1 1/2 wide has the same carboard feeling.
I have another session on Monday, but at this point and concerned that it’s doing more harm than good and frankly don’t know what to do or even where to go from here.
First I’m wondering if any kind people in the know may be able to explain what may be happening. Second wondering if I’m risking permanant injury by continuing the “therapy” or can the therapy be adjusted to rectify the situation. Third if going back for more treatments is not a good idea, what shoudl I do to rectify waht’s going on or whom should I go see.
I’m guessing this is some sort of soft tissue, scarring damage that is being caused be to aggressive of a treatment or possible a reaction in my personal makeup to the treatment. Maybe lesser treatment will help, or maybe I need some alternative. At this point I haven’t a clue as to what the problem is or who to even speak to.
ANY input would be appreaciated.
