Scam, SPAM, or stupidity ... you decide (more Ebay)

Got this in an email, I suppose the sender got my address off of one of the several sites I host, but likely from Ebay. I cannot believe this is real, as it wasn’t even directed to me in the To: line, and the email is hosted off http://masrawy.com/, an Egyptian site:

Was this unsolicited?

It sounds like whoever it is wants to attain the bank information, or at least confirmed billing and shipping addresses, of bike sellers so they can assume their identities and scam people with ease.

It really sucks for those of us trying to use channels like ebay to legitimately sell good bike equipment in that it makes people over cautious and puts the burden on the seller to constantly prove himself.

If these guys ever learn english we will be in trouble. It was disturbing to see the guy that pinched Tom’s pictures trading history.

It’s a SPAM scam…and has been around for a while. I got a similar message when I advertised a bike on a few of the bike classifieds. I played a long for a little bit, but eventually never heard back from them.

I wonder why they taxed you? Notice the new lacing pattern?

Glad to hear that it made it in one piece though.

Gary this is a known scam, recieved the same email in response to a car ad my SO placed on line. The bullitien board we used knew of the scam but is unable to do much as they are out of country. They block the email address but that works fora day.

thats what I figured, thanks Jim
