Saris cycle on pro

Anybody willing to comment on how they feel about the saris cycle on pro? Specifically, the “hassle-free” hitch. I’ve been struggling with my new one the last couple of days having recently swapped over from a swagman xc4 due to vehicle issues. My problem is that the cycle on seems to wobble a little in the vertical direction despite massive tightening. My experience with the threaded receiver pin on the swagman was that this was an immovable rigid interface.

This translates to about 1-2" of play at the end where my bike is mounted. My LBS and Saris both say this is to be expected. I wonder if anybody else sees this little amount of play using the hitch mount. Also, am considering purchased +2 bike add-on. This would add about 1-2 foot of extension to the lever-arm which I would think might add another inch or so of play at the far end of the rack (farthest from receiver). I’m just getting a little light-headed at the thought of mounting my new felt b2r on it.

Thanks for any input!

I have the the cycle on pro with a 1 1/4" hitch. It definitely has some vertical play. I’ve found that if you lift it upward and tighten it up at the same time it takes out some of the slack.

I’ve used it for 3 years, traveled thousands of miles with it loaded, carrying anywhere from a single road bike to two 30lb mountain bikes. Never had a single issue.

I wouldn’t sweat it. The ease of taking it on and off outweighs the nominal play.
