I’m really curious abut these for long rides. How about some feedback–negative and positive.
My experiences with the Sanitini twist gel bibs have been excellent. I own three pairs of them and they’re perfect for long rides. Very durable. The chamois is excellent. The nylon material of the bibs themselves is very soft and supportive. They come in a lot of cool colors (though I own the standard black, blue, and grey). Oh yeah, they don’t cost an arm and a leg either.
bicyclinghub.com has them the cheapest. Doug, the owner is a great guy and they don’t charge shipping on orders over 70 bucks (2nd day!).
Ordered from bicyclinghub as well, two pair of them, and got them very quick. I also proceeded to rip one of them very quick, in the first month in fact. I like them otherwise I’ll just say to be careful when putting them on, and pulling them up. You may be best served by putting them on part way, pulling up the bottom part of the leg and then pulling up the rest of it so you don’t put any pressure on the seams that may cause them to seperate. Lots of great reviews on these bibs, don’t let this scare you away, just be conscious of it, and all bibs probably.
ditto the previous posts. even on my longest rides (4-5 hrs) the Twist Gels have been nice and comfy. well, I can tell that I’m in the saddle, but no real discomfort, just a wee bit tired from sitting on something for several hours in a row. got mine from the bicyclinghub.com also.
only thing I sometimes wish was different is that they’re higher in front than some other bibs, so it takes a little effort to pull them down when you stop to take a leak. oh yeah, they’re bibs, so they’re kind of hot when the weather warms up. but that comes with the territory.
thanks! I saw Bicycling hubs site. Too bad I can’t fit the medium, or see myself in the fiery red Mexican team shorts, as they have some on clearance. I large and I prefer black or dark shorts.
Don’t you wish bibs had a vertical slit just below the top of the ‘U’ in the front of the bib. It sure would make pit stops a lot easier.
The original was an “external” chamois. The new short is an internal chamois. I prefer the extenal for tri. It was a separate unit flat seamed to the short. The coolmax is more open and dried almost immediately after the swim. I had a pair of bibs made into shorts by a seamstress and used them for IMOO. Very comfortable all day.
