Glyn (english muffin) and I are in for the Long Course on Saturday. Its our local race so we thought we would give it a go.

Amie from the gals weekend is going to be there for the Long Course.
We live in Santa Barbara so where is everyone grabing the beers afterwards? State Street?

I’ll be there for the race on Saturday, the little beach deli at the finish has a good selection of beer…that’s where I’ll be hanging out. How is the air in Santa Barbara, is the fire close enough to affect the race??

air quality was near close to prefect yesterday after a long crappy spell of haze and ash. We should be fine by this weekend!
Hi Rambo! Weaselgrl has been, ahem, “tapering” since she finished the Vineman 70.3 so she is reserving the right to transfer to the short course. There’s a nice size group that goes down from Fresno every year so I’ll be there again at the luxurious Motel Seis (ya gotta love rolling out of bed and walking across the street to the transition area). I’ve raced in the past but this year I’m definitely just a participant as a broken collarbone has slowed me down a bit. Emilio e-mailed me a few weeks back and said that he’d be there as well but I’m not sure about Monty.
just did a forum search for “Santa Barbara” and found this post. I wanted to know about the air quality, so thanks for answering that for me. I am doing the long course plus short course. I see that slowman is signed up for the long course. There must be more people doing this race, no?

I’ll be there, looking geeky as usual with my seat too high. We’re driving up the morning of, should be interesting. I can’t for the life of me remember the name of the 101 exit

Isn’t it the Milpas exit? I’m just getting ready to head out and am glad I checked the weather. It’s 102 here but the forecast for race time is almost 40 degrees cooler! BRRRRR SHIVER!!!

I think you’re right. One thing I haven’t confirmed yet is wether we can pick up packets Sat. morning when transition opens. I’m sure I did last year, but man, I’d have to have to drive there and back today just for that!

weaselgrl and i just picked up our packets. pick up goes until 7p. pretty sure they’ll let you get it in the morning if you can’t make it. transition area opens at 0500. man it is WINDY here compared to home!!! if you’re coming from the south you can take either the cabrillo or milpas exit as the transition area is between the two.

I won’t be able to make up there before 7 tonight so I am going to hope for the best in the morning. I’m sure they have packets tomorrow, it’s just not explicit on the website infomation

Afternoon Everyone!
The conditions for tomorrow are going to be epic hopefully. The wind should die down to a slow pace, the water will be the standard cool swim so hope everyone has their wetties ready! its going to be a blast. There are a few parts where you are going to be really shifting tomorrow and also hurting due to the climbs!!
I am in the event but not really racing as its the end of the calander for me and marg so if you pass a guy on a BMC wearing pink socks and red shorts thats me! I will see everyone after the event for some cold adult beverages!

Emilio was just a MACHINE when I saw him in the last mile or so of my run - very inspiring to see him finishing that strong, with a big smile on his face.
