Group rides? Solo? Climbing? Flat? Scenic? …and where are you staying? I’ll help as best as I can

NICE! check out the santa barbara triathlon website and open the link to the bike course profile. 34 miles with a fesitve climb (el toro canyon road) in the middle. the other thing to do is to roll over to Hazard’s CycleSport (one of the local shops) and get the 4-1-1 for group rides. sb…mmmmm buttered garlic bread balls and spinach raviolis at buccatini’s YUM!

Riding down to Carpinteria and back, through Montecito and Summerland will be a great ride. Rolling and quite pretty. Once in Carpinteria you can stretch it out by going coastal toward Ventura or turning inland toward Ojai. Nice stuff.

KP

Tom A - I’m at Bath & Los Olivos by the Cottage Hospital. I’m Up for anything.

Triabato-I’m getting a physical on monday. Can’t eat any crap!

Here’s the ride I’m thinking of so feel free to tell me if it sucks. I’m going to head up Los Olivos by the mission and get on Foothill heading south. I might catch Gibralter and head into the hill or stay on Foothill and head over towards Montecito.

I won’t be there tomorrow morning since I’ll be racing up in SLO, but the “Sunday Morning World Championships” goes off from the parking lot next to the East Beach bath house at just after 9 am. It’s a fast group ride through Montecito and Carpinteria all the way down to Rincon and back. There’s a couple of “regrouping” spots too.

The ride you’re considering is good too. If you’re not up for climbing up Gibraltar, or the road is closed due to the fire in the back country, make your way over to Mountain drive and follow that along for a nice ride through the foothills.

If you’re still here on Tues. morning, there’s a group ride that leaves from the Santa Barbara Roasting Co. on lower State at 8 and does the same route as the Sunday ride.

Have fun!

How fast is fast?

How fast is fast?

It starts out mellow, but once past Summerland, it gets “race fast”. Not so bad if you sit in since the group is pretty good sized. If you get dropped, no big deal since they’ll be coming back pretty much the same route…plus, even if you’re dropped you’re still out on your bike on a Sunday morning in Santa Barbara…things could be much worse

we were going up some road today by the mission, I think it was Mountain or Mission Ridge (?), it had stone walls with the oaks trees draping over the road. Oh, so awsome, looks like TDF.

Had a superb ride today. I went for the sampler - a little waterfront, some mountains, some flats stc. Went down State St. to the waterfront then over to Hope Ranch, up to Foothill, north to UCSB area then back. About 30 miles and really nice.

Glad you enjoyed santa Barbara lately. Its not usually this smoky but the riding is awesome! I live up past the mission so you must have biked up right past the house, next time you will have to pop in for a beer or two!

that smoke coming up from the mountain at times looks like a volcano. freaky.
