Sano bikes?

Anyone have any experience/knowledge about Sano bikes? I haven’t heard of them anywhere else except Bicycle magazines review issue.

Anyone care to comment on their goal of building all types of bikes? (road, TT, mountain, etc)

I live in the southeast (they’re made in huntsville, al), know people who have them and like them (both road and mtn).

I’m sure kent bostick used to ride a sano tt bike. if you don’t know who bostick is, do a google search. he is a legend.

Hey Vitus 979,

These are great bikes. Marty does some great work and the paint is awesome. I live in Huntsville and know many guys who ride these bikes. Marty has made some great bikes in just about all the materials. He is currently working on a new carbon fiber bike for a friend. If you need any information about these bikes you can contact Marty directly or you can call Steve Swann at Madison Cycles 256-461-9963 he is the local bike shop that sells Sano bikes. He is very knowledgable with these bikes. Hope this helps. BTW. I am also looking at them to build me a Triathlon frame for me this year. Just trying to put the funds together. If you have any further questions you can email if you would like and I will put you in contact with them. Take care.

Custom bikes are a funny animal. I have a 650c rocketship that Carl Strong made for me. I love it it fits, its aero and its exactly what I wanted that I could not get out of a box from the far east. My point? It was also a real pain to get to where it is today. I am a good mechanic but when you are getting a “one off” bike, remember that they did not have the luxury of building 500 others to get all the bugs out before they built yours. If you are not mechanical I would order a complete bike as it is unlikely to be as simple as hanging a few components and competing. For instance, mine is Altec 2 aero tubing, 650c wheels kind of resembling Elite or Guru’s high end offerings. With a short drivetrain I had to redish the deraillier hanger in the rear. I also use a 54 tooth aero front chainring, so I had to shim the front deraillier. I had to modify the seatpost holder, and you can’t use carbon posts. What I have now is what I would call the fastest Tri bike I have ever had. The extra effort was really worth it when I look at my splits this year. It was not easy though.
