So, it seems as if i’ll be doing a stint in Sandusky, Ohio for work, wanted to know if anyone knows of places to work out with decent pools…
I’m hoping to bump into Tom Callahan from Callahan Auto Parts…or maybe cruise for 4H babes while i’m there.

I’ve swum at a school pool there. I think it was a middle school and that it was a weird length. I know… really helpful. It was actually for lifeguard training.
I was a guard at Cedar Point for a summer. Maybe you can swim backwards in the lazy river at Soak City? ![]()
From a native of Cleveland, you can take your chance at the lake, but i would find a gym and just swim laps … much safer
The lake is actually really clean, especially thanks to the zebra mussels. The waters in and around Sandusky Bay are beautiful. My parents have retired on their boat there and whenever I go visit I spend alot of time in the water. I usually swim off the beach at Cedar Point, but we get there by boat, not sure about access from the land (if you have to pay park admission to get just to the beach?). If you’re looking to explore a little for open water, pm me. I know at least one “unofficial” beach a little out of town that requires a short hike to get to.
I don’t think you have to pay admission to the park since the beach is part of the hotel (Breakers?) there. If I remember correctly, there is an entrance road that goes down the right side of the peninsula that takes you to the hotels.
If I remember correctly you can swim at the Cedar point’s hotel beach and just pay a small admission charge maybe like 5-10 bucks. The hotel is separated from the amusement park.
Your best shot at a pool in town will be the ymca… http://www.ymca-sanduskyarea.org/
I grew up in the area and still live resonably close. The lake is not a bad place to swim if your looking for open water and I am pretty sure the only cost to get to the cedar point beach is the the toll for the causeway and parking.
Funny that you mention Callahan Auto Parts… i chuckle everytime i see that movie. It in no way resembles Sandusky.
