All right, so next month is my wedding anniversary and also is the start to my 13 week IM training program, so I have to do right by my wife!
I would love to weekend down in the San Diego beach area, La Jolla etc. My wife is also a triathlete and a location with a good setup for open water swims would be great. Is it La Jolla cove that has the great open water swimming?
Any hints on a nice B&B or small hotel near the water and with nice evening atmosphere (not a partying area).
The Skyroom is their formal dining room located at the top of the hotel overlooking the cove.
The Tropical Patio and the Mediterranean Room are great places within the hotel for the incredible sunsets and for coffee/snacks.
They do have a pool, but ofcourse the cove is located steps away from the hotel. There is plenty of shopping in La Jolla as well as other great dining such as George’s (upstairs patio for lunch). A real hole in the wall is Jose’s located on Prospect. It has great Mexican food and see if you can nail down one of the three tables at the front. It is one of the better views of the cove while sipping a Margarita and downing a Polo Asada Burrito (least expensive food at the cove as well). Good luck and have fun.
Nice B & B, stayed there a few years ago for my bro’s wedding…small, romantic, quiet, but a nice location…walking distance to cove for swimming, running, etc…
