Salami sandwich during my brick today

True story.

I’ve been playing with different nutrition protocols for an upcoming 1/2IM.
So for todays brick workout(bike-run) I thought I’d try something different.
I watched a video on last years Norseman X-treme Triathlon, and somewhere in the site they mentioned that the athletes were given Salami sandwiches and pretzels through-out the course.,and from the looks of the course- it was a tough Mfck’r.
So I thought - hmm maybe these Vikings knew a thing or two about endurance and pressed meats.

I know I can stomach solid foods during the bike-but, peanut butter after it gets warm gets runny and nasty-so i threw in a Salami on sliced wheat in my back pocket.

Started eating it at the 40 mile mark and washed it down w/ Cytomax-now , I know everybody has different responses,but-Holy Viking crap !
Total energy rush.

I think I might have run my best after the bike ever.

I’m guessing that the combination of salt(MSG) & protein + carbs = rocket fuel.

So there it is…tip of the day.

I thought this was gonna be another gay joke for the day.

I was hoping someone would come up big…and you did.

Stay Tuned for tomorrows post on " How I hid the Salami sandwich during my Swim" follow-up.

This last weekend’s long group bike ride someone got a couple beef sticks. Damn, they tasted awesome! I get so sick off bars, gels, crap… I want real food!

I’m gonna start salted meat experiments now on my long rides too!

Slim Jims are one of your best friends during an Adventure Race.

10 years ago I was doing a group ride with some friends and we stopped at a gas station to refuel. One of the guys (A doctor no less) ordered some deep fried potato logs and then when we started riding again he started destroying us with these super fast pulls that lasted forever. I could not believe it.

The next weekend I ordered the potato logs. They did not work as well for me.
