Saddle Sore

What is the best way to get rid of a persistent saddle sore (blind pimple) that is tender at certain points on the bike? I get these a couple times during the year as my bike time increases. Looking for suggestions.

Stick a pin in it and squeeze the shit out of it!

Yes that has been my approach to it in the past, but I want to find a solution to avoid getting these (pain in the butt sores).

I use a facial scrub thing, like noxema or oxy or one of those things that high school kids use on their faces, after rides, I scrub the taint area pretty thouroughly with one of those fluffy shower scrubber things. I don’t get saddle sores anymore.

I use the acne body wash and put it on one of those puffy round loofa things, and don’t be afraid to give it some elbow grease

what are you doing so far to deal with the problem?

do you use chamois cream?

have you tried different bike shorts with different chamois?

have you tried different saddle(s)?

i started using chamois cream, changed shorts (twice - been using sugoi rs bibs for a while now), and i have gone through 4 different saddles before finding the right tri saddle (ism adamo), and 3 different saddles before finding the right road saddle (flite gel flow).

the optimal shorts and saddles will be different for every person, so my shorts and/or saddle choices in all likelihood may not suit you.

Oddly enough, I have found that the number of saddle sores I got DECREASED when I stopped using stuff like chamois butter, body glide, etc etc. So now, I use nothing at all.

Also, I wash my shorts out in the shower with baby shampoo after every ride, and use an exfoliating wash everywhere. I then use witch hazel in the typically affected areas. BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU PUT IT.
