Is there any saddle wich would be good for both (light)offroad and road(+ aerobars) usage? I am casual long distance rider and im enjoying freedom of ride on my hybrid bicycle. My current gel saddle wich came with bicycle is pretty useless for anything above 5 miles, and riding in aero position is almost impossible. Im looking for advice because i have never used any tri saddle before and i really need change.
Hmmm… I’m going to vote note. I know lots of people who use Selle Italia SLRs on their road and MTB bikes (me being one of them), but I have a tri-specic Selle Italia saddle for my tri bike.
While each rider is different, my vote would be the Fizik Arione Tri2. It’s trim enough for road while being padded enough in the nose for tri, and it’s long enough that you can slide waaay back on it when doing offroad descents. I use it for my road and tri bikes. Lots of these saddles are quite pricey though. You may not want to drop $100+ on the saddles being recommended here. If that’s the case find the “work-a-like” version from performancebike.com’s house brand, “forte” and go with that.
Are we to understand that you put aerobars on a hybrid? I hope this is for log distance comfort by putting your weight on your elbows since I don’t think you could get a good aero position on a hybrid.
Take a look at the WTB Rocket V saddle. I have one on my MTB and it is the most comfortable saddle I own. And I have an Fizik Arione, PD Tri Stryke, Cobb V-flow+, and Spec. Body Glove in my inventory.

Purpose of aerobars is to get more hand positions obviously. Riding for 5+ hours without stop aint only butt problem, hands, neck and all muscles are also issue, i think that most people understand this. There are even stock trekking bikes with aeros mounted. Didnt took me that long to understand that its almost impossible to get proper aero position on such a bike because of frame geometry. I can get my top pretty good, but legs wont ever be in same position as at real tri bicycle wich means that speed gain will be very minor at best. But hey - some people, like me still like it
And btw, most of those aeros at hybrid/trekking bicycles are more like roadbike aeros wich means that they dont have that superior aero shape by themselves. But they are still noticeable in certain conditions, like wind blowing at you. I hope that this sums everything up.
Selle Italia SLR
To be honest, i dont like Selle Italia. I was already testing two of their saddles and both werent thing i was looking for. One of those tested was some SLR variation.
Adamo Typhoon
I like Adamo design(ive read that some people dont), althrough its really hard to find them in europe. Noted company, saddle etc and i will try to get more info on them.
Fizik Arione Tri2
This one is really interesting, very long and wing flex sounds nice. I might try it. That cheaper imitation is also interesting, althrough its only for US residents so i wont be able to get it(notice that shipping cost would be higher than saddle itself).
WTB Rocket V
Another interesting saddle, im looking for their test program in my area and wondering how it will work out.
I always thought that it was more important to remain in a slacker aero position and stay there, instead of being in a steeper, more aero, position and move in and out of it due to pain; anywhere on one’s body.
I ride with a Selle Anatomica on long rides and a Fizik Aliante for road racing. That Selle Anatomica is super heavy with a big bolt through it, - but one can ride for forever on the hammock. I used it in the 508 and over 40 hours with minimal stopping, the only issue I had was that the Anatomica wasn’t on both bikes that I used for the race.
