Saddle for us cheapy bikers (or TSR for those who buy new)

Hey all–

For those of us that cannot afford a Arione or other like model at $150+ a whack, I wanted to give some praise to the Supergo Aireon Team Race Saddle. Purchased for $20 4-5 weeks ago.

I have been riding it back and forth to work at 30 mins at a time (short commute). Finally got out for a 3 hour ride this week and it felt great. No numbness or soreness. Did not notice the saddle under me while I was out. It is a couple of days later and my arse is not sore. On previous rides on my last saddle anything over an hour was not pleasant.

A couple of observations not scientific in any way…

My cadence has picked up since installing this saddle. I used to ride at 90-93rpm now I can regularly and more comfortably ride at 97-105 rpm. When checking my watts on the trainer they are up too. This is probably more due to changing position a bit in mounting this saddle rather than the saddle itself.

This saddle is narrower and thinner than my last one (stock Bontrager on my Trek) but much more comfortable. I tend to like narrower saddles as I have tree trunk legs (as I have been told) but this saddle gives great clearance when pedalling (sp?).

I am a heavier guy than many (215lbs).

not associated with Supergo in any way. just liked the saddle.

Before settling on the Fizik Arione I had several failed experiments with saddles, some costing $$$.

Next to the Arione, the next best saddle was a discontinued Velo purchased out of the bargain bin box at the LBS for five bucks.
