Saddle Choices... (1)

I am going to replace my saddle since it sucks! I am trying to decide what to get and thought I would see how people felt, I am stuck between trying the Adamo Prologue and cobb V-flow. I am a thinner guy (nice way of saying I’m a stick figure) and the one I have now I can’t stay in the same position for more than 2 minutes. I have done a lot of reading and both these look like good choices to try. Any suggestions? Do I need to just pick one and try it and if I don’t like it try the other? Anything helps, thanks!

Since Cobb has a 90 day return policy, that’s the one to try first.

I am on the thin side as well and really like my Cobb V-Flow Max.

Im not sure how common this is, but some stores will demo saddles. I’d go this route if you can.
Personally, I like the Vflow Max the best, but may not be the same for you.

Being this also, I share your problem. I currently have not had any luck with the adamo/cobb style. I am now using with decent results, the Cobb SHC. I have also used the Bontrager Hilo RXL, which many find good. In fact, I have one for sale with almost no use in case you’d be interested.

Where are you located?

Please, please, please, try to find a shop with a wall of demo saddles and a switchit. There’s simply no way to guess which saddle will work. The nuanced shapes make a HUGE impact on every rider.

I say this with about $600 of saddles in a shoebox near me from failed experiments before I found a place with a solid 80+ saddles to try. Even if you need to make a small destination trip out of it, make it happen. Shoot, do it along with a proper bike fitting - that saddle will make a HUGE difference on how far forward you can comfortably roll your hips, which will dramatically alter both pad stack/reach and power generation.

Seriously man, your crotch deserves to be pampered. Don’t screw around in that area. Unless of course you’re ::ahem:: you know…

It’s one of those where you don’t know what you don’t know until see the light.

FTR, I’ve been riding for 20+years. BMX, Mtn, road, and tri. I also weigh over 200 lbs, and I genuinely experience amazing comfort for the duration of most any ride. I just wished I had known how comfortable I could have been the entire time. Namely for road and Tri where I don’t have motivation to get out of the saddle so often.

The Adamo Prologue and Cobb VFlow are very different. Do you mean the VFlow in particular or the Plus or Max?

A lot of saddle selection can simply be due to the fit or where you sit on the saddle. To me, the Adamo saddles and likely the Cobb JOF/55 are pretty much 1 position saddles in that you sit pretty much in one position on them. The other cobb saddles provide a bit more flexibility simple because they are nosed saddles so you can move fore/aft a bit more.

Cobb does offer a good return policy and several styles, so I would start there. (Disclaimer, sponsored athlete but have ridden all the seats you are wondering about).

I love my prologue. I will warn you it took a week or so of consistent riding to get used to… now I would be very skeptical to swap saddles out for anything else… it may take a while to decide whether or not you like it… but make sure you give it a fair shake.

It’s too early for April Fool’s. This really exists. I dare someone to try it and let me know how it goes.
