Is it sacrilege to put Sram/Shimano and Zipps on a Pinarello Montello? I cant imagine anything else but Campy. It’s like putting Chow Mein noodles in your Pasta Fagioli.
I think the days of “Italian belongs on Italian” are long gone. I mean…c’mon…the Montello is made in China.
If you were talking about an old Pina steel frame, on the other hand…I’d be hard pressed to even put NEW Campy on it…
I have shimano on my Bianchi… probably almost as bad. Had I bought the exact same bike in Europe, it would have had Campy. So the manufacturers are selecting their grouppos depending on the end customer’s geography. At least, Bianchi appears to be.
I would’ve preferred Campy on it, but couldn’t justify the change.
mmmmm “Chow Mein noodles in your Pasta Fagioli” that sounds prety good right now… but then I just infished a workout and all I see is carbs ![]()
The guy that owns the bikeshop I frequent told me that Ernesto Colnago personally dislikes Campagnolo products and would prefer his bikes be built up with ShimaNO, so I think we can all take liberties on how we build up our bikes.
