It has been fluctuating between 24C and 26C. Once it hits 25.6C (78F) no wetsuits allowed for Vineman.

Water in the river yesterday was consistently 79 degrees between the start and turn around. Very nice water temp for swimming :wink:

Thanks for the update. It always amazes me how excited we get about if it will be a wetsuit swim or not. I remember the day when wetsuits were not allowed for any swim. While a bit dangerous for some swims (I had hypothermia at Santa Barbara one year), it did make racing a bit more of an adventure.

I am actually hoping for not wetsuits, but if they are allowed, I will rockin the T1 Bib John only! (wearing the full suit will just make me overheat!)

Anyone that did the swim yesterday w/o a wetsuit was VERY comfortable and glad they did not wear the rubber … there is still a real good chance it will be a wetsuit swim but I can’t see water dipping below 76 degrees by much.

Looks like it’s going to be warm next weekend. Not sure if that effects H2O temp in the river.

Lack of marine layer & air temperature are the two major factors … we have had little marine layer over the river valley and air temps look mornal to warmer next week.

I was not sure if some cool upstream water was released from time to time.

Yes, water is released daily from upstream lakes … flow rate is lower than years previous because of low water levels from little winter rains. Therefore water sits in the sun longer making it’s way to Guerneville and points east.

Not sure about the “points east” part Dave. Last I checked the river flowed west to Jenner and the sea :wink:

I am hoping for 79 degrees and no suit. I always overheat in that river anyway. Please order up some fog since I start late this year.

Me too! If it’s borderline, I’ll go sans wetsuit since I only have a full suit.

Hey Mike … should have read “from” points east :wink: … then again i am fropm the other coast orginally and haven’t figured that out yet :wink:
