Running Watches

Its time for a new watch. I’m sick of Timex since the last two broke on me (and one of the warrantied relacement watches broke as well). I’m sick of paying Timex to warranty a watch I just had fixed-and which I suspect will break again in the near future.

So, my question is, what watches are out there that really impressed people? I want the watch to store at least 30 old runs, be durable, waterproof and all the regular hub-bub. My HRM recently crapped out on me as well so HRM features could be included but are not necessary (since I rarly use a HRM anymore ). I want the watch to be comfortable, and I prefer a band that wont start to stink after the first week or so. Finally, I prefer big numbers and if possible I like a timer that will read “:86” rather that “1:26” but that is just fluff compared to the above.

Any suggestions?

If you want a HR monitor, i’d say you can’t go wrong with a Polar. I have had a 720i for a 1.5yrs and no problems. Nice, but i’m afraid to bust it up wearing it on a daily basis. I might leave it on my bike from now on.

Normal Watch, I have a Nike Triax from about 4 years ago, the first year that they had the big numbers. No functional problems, i’ve replaced the battery 2 times, normal i hear, and the band 2 times (broke from normal wear, $25). I have no complaints, the big numbers that are angled are easy to read on the run, along with the big buttons, that are easy to use.

I might be buying a Oakley to replace it soon, maybe the shark shaped one or the big round one.
